The Indian Embassy has released updated travel guidelines for Indians visiting Thailand. Travellers should carry a valid passport, the correct Thailand visa, TDAC registration, confirmed bookings, and proof of funds. The advisory also includes important instructions for transit passengers and those travelling to Thailand for employment.

Indian travellers planning a holiday in Thailand should review the latest travel guidelines before booking their trip. The Indian Embassy in Bangkok has issued a new advisory outlining the essential documents and entry requirements that visitors should keep ready to avoid any inconvenience at immigration.

The updated advisory follows Thailand's decision to end visa-free entry for Indian passport holders. As a result, travellers are advised to apply for the appropriate Thailand visa according to the purpose of their visit.

Essential Documents to Carry

The embassy recommends that every traveller keeps the following documents readily available:

  • A passport with at least six months of validity from the date of arrival.

  • A confirmed return or onward flight ticket.

  • Hotel reservation details.

  • A planned travel itinerary.

A completed Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC), which must be submitted online within 72 hours before arriving in Thailand. Travellers should save the generated QR code, as immigration officers may ask to see it.

Carry Proof of Sufficient Funds

Another important requirement is financial proof. Visitors travelling under the Visa on Arrival (VOA) or Visa Waiver scheme should carry at least 20,000 Thai Baht (around ₹58,000) in cash. Immigration authorities have the right to ask travellers to show proof that they have enough money to support their stay.

Employment Requires the Correct Visa

The embassy has also reminded Indian citizens that tourist entry options, including Visa on Arrival or visa waiver schemes, should not be used by anyone travelling to Thailand for work.

Those who have accepted a job offer must obtain the appropriate work-related visa before departure to comply with Thai immigration regulations.

Transit Travellers Should Stay Prepared

Passengers changing flights through Thailand should also carry all the documents required for their final destination. This includes valid visas, onward flight tickets, and any other travel papers that may be requested during transit.

Embassy's Travel Checklist

Before leaving for Thailand, make sure you have:

  • A passport valid for at least six months.

  • Confirmed return or onward flight tickets.

  • Hotel booking confirmation.

  • A complete travel plan.

  • Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) completed within 72 hours before arrival.

  • The correct visa for your purpose of travel.

  • At least THB 20,000 (approximately ₹58,000) in cash, if applicable.

  • All travel documents easily accessible at the immigration counter.

  • Individual documents for every traveller in a group.

  • The appropriate work visa if travelling for employment.

  • Required visas and documents for your final destination if travelling in transit.

The Indian Embassy has advised travellers to double-check all travel documents before departure to ensure a smooth arrival in Thailand.
