India has introduced a new free visa facility for Thai tourists, making travel between Thailand and India easier. Thai nationals visiting India for tourism can now apply for a 30-day double-entry e-Tourist visa without paying a visa fee.

The announcement was made by the Embassy of India in Bangkok on September 11, 2026. The new arrangement is expected to support tourism and strengthen travel ties between India and Thailand.

Free 30-Day Indian e-Tourist Visa for Thai Nationals

Under the new arrangement, Thai passport holders travelling to India for tourism can apply online for a 30-day e-Tourist visa on a free-of-charge basis.

The visa allows double entry, meaning eligible travellers can enter India twice during the 30-day validity period. This gives tourists more flexibility when planning their India holidays.

The India free visa for Thai citizens will remain available until December 31, 2027, unless the government announces any changes earlier.

India Makes Travel Easier for Thai Tourists

The latest India visa update for Thai nationals comes as both countries continue to make international travel more convenient.

Thai travellers planning a holiday in India can now explore destinations such as Delhi, Rajasthan, Goa, Kerala, Mumbai, Agra and other popular tourist destinations with the benefit of a free Indian tourist e-visa.

The move could also encourage more Thai visitors to choose India for holidays, cultural experiences, sightseeing and longer multi-city trips.

Thailand Also Changes Visa Rules for Indian Tourists

The announcement comes alongside changes in Thailand's entry rules for Indian travellers.

According to the report, Thailand is introducing a 30-day visa-free stay for Indian ordinary passport holders travelling for tourism. The new policy is scheduled to take effect from September 15.

Indian tourists travelling under the Thailand visa exemption should still be prepared for immigration requirements. Travellers have been advised to carry:

  • A passport valid for at least six months

  •  Confirmed return tickets

  •  Hotel booking details

  •  A clear travel itinerary

  • Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) completed within 72 hours before arrival

  • At least THB 20,000 in cash per passenger

Travellers should also keep their supporting documents ready for immigration checks.

What This Means for Travellers

The latest India-Thailand visa update makes tourism between the two countries more accessible.

For Thai citizens, the free 30-day Indian e-Tourist visa can reduce the overall cost of planning an India holiday. For Indian travellers, Thailand's 30-day visa-free entry can make popular destinations such as Bangkok, Phuket, Krabi and Chiang Mai easier to plan.

With both countries easing tourist entry requirements, travellers from India and Thailand may find it easier to plan international holidays between the two destinations.
